The house, dating from the 19th century, was to undergo a refurbishment process through adding an extension on a 20-acre estate in Berkshire.

The extension is set on a lower part of the garden, and the form of the building is drawn from the typical barn structures that can be found in the local area as well as on the estate itself. The short elevations are clad with western red cedar strips apart from the fixed triangular glazed gables at a high level. The garden elevation is glazed from floor to ceiling for most of its length; with cedar clad doors creating access to the patio and low- er garden beyond.
